Corrupt Politician Proudly Wears the Evidence

Diamond ring? That's a whole new level of corruption. Or, even more scary: is this the NORMAL level of corruption which we have refused to acknowledge, because we have been shut out of these schemes while they have been raised in that world all their lives? A lot of my worldview has been dismantled this year. But, for some reason, entertaining the possibility that 100K diamond rings are normal in that world feels like crossing a line -- because it's the last line which moves from "they lie to themselves about the good they're doing" to "they are knowingly participating in evil."
